On the north west part of the island is Prinos with its port Skala Prinos. Not far from Prinos village up in the mountain are situated the villages of Small Prinos ( Mikro Kazaviti ) and Big Prinos ( Big kazaviti ) a nice picturesque village with stone built houses and stone plated roofs. The Holy Monastery of St. Panteleimon build in an idyllic landscape is 12 km away. Skala Prinos and Dasyllio ( little forest ) are settlements build at a pinefull coast . From Skala Prinos you can take the ferry or the hydrofoil for a visit to the city of Kavala on the mainland. The villages of Rachoni and Agios Georgios are built in the forest . At the village of Agios Georgios was raised Mehmet Ali ( 1769 - 1749 ) who later became the establisher of the Egyptian Royal Dynasty. In a fruitful valley, full of olive and pine trees the settlements of Skala Rachoni and Pachis were developed. Sandy beaches and clear shallow waters decorate the settlements.
