He is chair of the municipality is the village Asprangeli. It has an area of about 1,000 square kilometers and includes 46 villages, known as the villages of Zagori (Zagorochoria or Zagorohoria or), and is in the form of an inverted equilateral triangle.
Southern corner of the triangle contains the provincial capital of Ioannina, in the south-west consists of The Mount Mitsikeli (1,810m) and Mount Tymfi River Aoos and is north and in the south-east is running the Mount along the river Varda Mavrovouni (2,100m) near Metsovo.
The population of the area is around 3700, which gives a density of 4 per square kilometer, compared with an average of 73.8 for Greece as a whole.
