Vrachos-Loutsa beach in Preveza has a length of 6 km and a fine sand, and is also one of the most popular beaches in Epirus.
The area is of extraordinary beauty. The small bays open to larger bays, and the sand gradually turns into spectacular cliffs, in an amazing and harmonious way. Pine forests cover large areas near the beaches, so that the landscape is not only picturesque, but also diverse.
Like Vrachos beach, the entire area is easily accessible, being near the national road that connects Preveza with Igoumenitsa. The city of Preveza is only 30 km from Vrachos and Parga, another cosmopolitan resort of Epirus, is 40 km away. Igoumenitsa port, the gateway to Greece from Italy, is 55 km away.
Activities and objectives:
- The river Aherontas, which flows into the Ionian Sea, passes through the Fanari valley and creates many interesting places for explorers. In the village of Gliki, Aherontas is divided into several arms, and here you can practice rafting or boating.
- The Necromancer of Aherontas: it was an ancient Greek temple of necromancy dedicated to Hades and Persephone. According to tradition, it was located on the banks of the river Acheron in Epirus, near the ancient city of Ephyra. It was believed that this was the gateway to Hades, the land of the dead. The site is at the meeting point of the rivers Acheron, Pyriphlegethon and Cocytus, which are believed to flow through the kingdom of Hades.
It was believed that this is the place where souls pass into the world beyond. On the top of the hill where people arrived from the village of Ammoudia were the gates through which the souls from the other country could contact their loved ones, staying here.
