Varos was for a long time an almost abandoned settlement, until an extensive restoration project, starting in 2010, transformed the old buildings into luxury accommodation. The village retains an authentic look, with houses built of local volcanic stone and clay ("Terra Lemnia"), the earthy colours of which blend perfectly into the landscape. Being located right in the heart of the island, it offers quick access (in about 15-20 minutes) to the main attractions and beaches on both coasts.
