Tragaki is a beautiful picturesque village in mountainous and seaside land with 650 inhabitants, just 11 kilometres northwest of Zakynthos town. Tragaki is a village full of green in olive-groves, vineyards and fruiter trees as far as eye can reach. Hotels, furnished apartments, rooms and villas are waiting there for you. Also, a well-organised camping, with a lot of facilities and good prices, gives you the chance to "draw your holidays from nature"!
Tragaki, next to Tsilivi bay (at a distance of about 7 km from Zakynthos town), offers a great selection of sandy beaches, like Bouka, Katragaki, Gaidaros and Amboula. Here you will find well organized hotel complexes with European standards as well as smaller units. The picturesque port nearby is big enough to service the local fishing boats.
Sight-seeing of the area offers a lot of interesting things. Holy Mary of Dermatas Monastery (or Panaghia Dermatousa), in northern Tragaki, is an architectural monument of considerable value. The monastery is located in Dermatas Bocage, property of the Municipality, a cypress-dell extending in 14.000 square metres. In this location, the construction of a hypaethral theatre. The area around the monastery is one of the most beautiful of country-side areas of the island. Dells of cypresses, kermes oaks, olive-groves, gardens, springs and rich vegetation hug every side of this holy place's remains.
