On the Northwest coast of Thassos less than 5 kilometres from Skala Prinos and nearly 13 kilometres from Thassos Town, in a fertile plain blanketed in olive trees, the town of Skala Rachoni has steadily sprung up in recent years. For a very long time this town had been used mainly as a harbor for the people of the mountain villages of Rachoni and Agios Georgios. The long and sandy beaches that stretch along the coast are stunning, and because of this it has become more developed in recent years because of its increasing popularity among tourists. The water is shallow and crystal-clear, normally very calm and perfect for small children. If you walk along the beach you are bound to find water sports. The mainland can be seen directly across the sea on clear days.
