Paleopoli is located in the northern part of Samothraki Island, 6.5 km from the port of Kamariotissa.

The sanctuary of the Great Gods is located in a beautiful forested valley of Mount Saos, an ideal setting for entering the sacred atmosphere of the place.
It is one of the most important ancient spiritual sites in Europe, dating back over 1000 years. Around 190 BC The statue of the goddess Niki, also known as "Nike of Samothraki" or "Winged Victory of Samothraki" was found. The original is at the Louvre, and the museum hosts only a replica. The statue is made of marble and is 2.75 m high.

Ora?ul Kamariotissa nu este cel mai pitoresc, dar are ceva magazine, farmacie... pentru nevoile imediate sau urgente. Ora?ul Chora, capitala insulei, la doar 4-5 km, este insa extrem de interesant ?i pitoresc, cu multe cafenele, taverne cu mancare tradi?ionala, dar ?i pizza sau paste, cu magazine cochete cu suvenire.
