Limenas (gr. "Port") known as Thassos Town, the capital of the Emerald Isle and the main port of the connection between Thassos and Greek mainland. The northern part of the island of Thassos is very beautiful, surrounded by dense vegetation, mountains covered with pine trees and olive groves which gives a picturesque air, Limenas Thassos is a treat for lovers of history, attracted crowds of archaeological sites dating from the time Ancient Greece.
Distance of about 8 km between the city and coast through Greece and the ferry takes about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, neither the city nor Thassos not have its own airport, hence the lack of promotional offers to stay with the plane included. However, due to positioning and regular ferry trips can be reached easily by car.
The city is a good example of combining modernity and traditional archaeological remains well preserved. You will find here a stylish resort with many palm trees, oleanders and many cats. Greek taverns filled with cliffs, narrow streets with souvenir shops, beautiful architecture and lots of history in Mediterranean style - all these create a true delight for any traveler.
Limenas and its surroundings offer a wide variety of beaches including Limanaki Beach, Makryammos Beach, Agios Vasileios Beach, Tarsanas Beach, Glyfada Beach, Papalimani Beach, all of which are designed to prevent tourists needs (are equipped with showers, toilets, and even cabins exchange). 4 km from the port of Limenas Glikadi beach is very popular with visitors because of convenient distance; bar beach umbrellas and lounge chairs provide for tourists who order a juice or coffee (at a price of about 3 euros).
Those looking for some cool and can accommodate the shade of pine trees on the beach Nister, a pebbled beach located 2 km from Limenas. 20 km from Limenas found Paradise Beach, a beautiful beach with soft sand, decorated with rocky slopes, but where the cost of a chair + umbrella stands at 7 euros per person. Known as the most beautiful beach on the island, Paradise Beach totally respect their behalf, many referring to it as a paradise. Hourly buses leave from the Golden Beach resort, the second in terms of popularity Beach Thassos. After a journey of about 40 minutes you will find a beach with golden sands and emerald water and the cost of umbrellas and sunbeds second rise here at 7 euros.
