Kinira village is also known as the "Loutra" (gr. Bath) and here you can visit the ruins of a Christian basilica and of the Byzantine era baths. It is a rocky area with waters rich in fish, hence the multitude of taverns where you can enjoy traditional dishes from over.
The Greek historian Herodotus says that the Phoenicians exported wood and gold in this area since the sixteenth century BC until the Greeks colonized the entire island. All of Kinira belong and Kiniriotiko, a small uninhabited island as seen from the sea. Fully covered by pine and olive trees, with a rocky beach, islet give more charm of the whole area.
In Kinira are two beaches that stretches along the entire settlements: one with fine white pebbles and sand and other sand only separated by a little spit. Days of beach or swimming are a real delight and you can admire the natural beauty of the area filled with pine trees, olive trees and mountains covered with fresh green.
You can easily find plenty of room on the beach and, as everywhere in Thassos, the water is clean and clear. Even if it is narrow in places, on the beach you can find and retreats and quiet. The sea water is not deep in this area, which really good for families with children.
