Afitos town is a traditional Greek authorities declared UNESCO heritage, its ancient architecture, with small cobbled streets with fancy houses built in Mediterranean style with a rich cultural life.
Afitos hosting many festivals of all genres that fit perfectly into the medieval décor of the area. The city will offer the opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Halkidiki and enjoy the great golf Toroneos, without being far away from the bigger and more bustling resorts of Kassandra on the arm.
Afitos offers many traditional taverns, bars, cafes serving local delicacies and drinks of the region. In the city there are 7 churches (of which three are from the Byzantine era), the museum in July and August have held several events, outdoor theater, culinary competitions, musical evenings, most of them have free access and the market place Afitos power plant.
The origin of the name comes from either a man named "Aphiteos" or from the ancient word "Aphitis" which means abundance of plants.
