Glyfada is an upscale area with many business headquarters and numerous seaside hotels. If you want to go to Athens but not stay "in" Athens, it's a convenient option with good public transportation into the city itself. The E96 bus from the airport runs 24 hours a day and will take you directly to Glyfada for less than 3 Euros a person.
While Glyfada does have some minor archaeological remains, most travelers will be more interested in Greece's original 18-hole golf course. If you want to play golf while in Greece, this is probably your most convenient opportunity. The Glyfada Golf Club also hosts a number of golfing events each year.
Glyfada also is home to some of Athens' top shopping malls. If you want to shop as the Greeks do, here's your chance.
Glyfada offers a wide selection of restaurants, many of them with foreign cuisine. Some American chain restaurants have outposts here, such as Applebee's.
