Very close to Heraklion, 25 km of new national road Iraklion- Rethymno lies Fodele beach. This leads to the village crossroads Fodele after a 3 km riverside and orange fruitful.
The village is built among the orange trees and plane trees, forming an oasis for visitors on hot summer days. Small river passing through the village "Pantomantris" which took its name from the old town "PANTOMANTRION" once existing here.
A village market under a flat tree older than a thousand years, is a memorial of the great painter Domenikos Theotokopoulos Fodele born in 1541.
At Fodele there are two beaches, first near the national road offering some tourist facilities, a large hotel, restaurants, cafes, etc., and a car park. The other is a little further west, accessible only from the village and there are no facilities for visitors.
