About Anemomilos - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
The name Anemomilos (windmill) comes from the reconstructed windmill which stand at the edge of Garitsa bay, the windiest point this side of the town, once served the milling needs of town.
This is a very small beach right next to the road separated only by the pavement and is used by local who want a quick dip in the morning before going to work or visitors who need some refreshing.
Perhaps more popular is the pier right next to the beach, with its full view of Garitsa bay, the town and Old Fortress. Despite the total lack of a beach some people like to swim in clear blue waters but resent getting their feet dirty in the sand and simple fact that you can drive, park, go for a swim, have a cup of coffee and drive away is just too connivent for many not to come here.
The pier also provides shelter to a number of small boats of a local club and a landing point to the many yachts which anchor in Garitsa bay during the summer.
