Agia Pelagia is a seaside fishing village built in the center of a picturesque bay amphitheater, is located 23 km north-west of Heraklion, Crete's capital, and distants 25 km from Heraklion airport and 23 from the ferry. Surrounded by mountains and hills of Agia Pelagia is located right in the middle of the island of Crete, with about 9 small sandy beaches ideal for those who prefer more privacy.
Agia Pelagia takes its name from the homonymous church, the monastery Sebbathians, ruins that are located within a distance of 1 km west of the village. In recent years, a development known tourist resort and its beaches attract many visitors who find here all types of services. From Agia Pelagia visit post-Minoan tombs and University (Pritanion) of the 4th century BC were found in 1970 at or Kladotos Kladistos. Also worth visiting the nearby cave, named "Evresi in which - according to legend - residents icon was found of Agia Pelagia (Saint Marina).
In the village you can find many taverns, offering traditional dishes but also international, bars, cafes, shops and boutiques, you will invite short walk through streets.
