Veneto este o reședință venețiană a secolului al XV-lea situată în Vechiul Oraș din Rethymno, aproape de districtul comercial, muzee și numeroase cafenele. Clădirea a fost renovată cu respect față de caracterul și arhitectura timpului său și este compusă din șapte Suite Standard, patru Suite Junior și două Suite Deluxe. ISTORIE: Facând parte dintr-un mănăstire dominicană numită Santa Maria Magdalena, VENETO a fost inaugurată de Michele Sanmicheli la mijlocul secolului al XV-lea. Acest cunoscut arhitect venețian s-a ocupat de construcția cetății orașului Rethymno (Fortezza), după reocuparea sa de către dusmanii săi, genovezii. Înainte de a începe construcția cetății însă, a renovat VENETO, LOGGIA (casa adunării ofițerilor), precum și alte trei case pentru a caza nobilii venețieni responsabili de supraveghere. La mijlocul secolului al XIX-lea, VENETO a fost cumpărată și renovată de turcul Bey Risvan care a dăruit-o surorii sale tinere recent văduvită. La începutul secolului al XX-lea și după schimbul de populație, VENETO a fost dată familiei Prokopakis de către Guvernul Grec, ca recunoștință pentru contribuția eroică a lui Emmanuel G. Prokopakis la Răscoala Macedoneană (1903 - 1908). ARHITECTURĂ: Veneto este un ansamblu arhitectural impresionant. Intrarea este întărită de un arc de mozaic din prima epocă venețiană, un martor al vârstei clădirii. Îndată lângă aceasta, impunătoarea scară de piatră care duce la etajele superioare iese dintr-o podea unică de pietriș cu modele elaborate. Părțile party cu lățimi de 50-120 cm asamblate cu tencuială din Santorini, trei fântâni de piatră, două fântâni, o curte sublimă și multe colțuri particulare alcătuiesc un puzzle arhitectural unic. Elemente de arhitectură venețiană, turcă și greacă îmbinate de-a lungul secolelor într-o singură clădire.

Veneto is a Venetian mansion of the 15th century located in the Old Town of Rethymno, close by the shopping district, the museums and numerous cafes. The building has been renovated with respect to the character and architecture of its time and consists of seven Standard Suites, four Junior Suites, and two Deluxe Suites.
HISTORY: Being a part of a Dominican monastery named Santa Maria Magdalena, VENETO was inaugurated by Michele Sanmicheli in the mid 15th century. This well-known Venetian architect had taken on the construction of the fortress of the town of Rethymno (Fortezza), after its reoccupation by its enemies, the Genovese. Before starting building the fortress though, he renovated VENETO, LOGGIA (the officer's assembly house), as well as three other houses in order to lodge the Venetian noblemen who were responsible for the supervision. In the mid19th century, VENETO was bought and renovated by the Turkish Bey Risvan who gave it to his young newly widowed sister. At the beginning of the 20th century and after the population exchange, VENETO was given to Prokopakis Family by the Greek Government, as an acknowledgment of Emmanuel G. Prokopakis? heroic contribution to the Macedonian Rebellion (1903 ? 1908).
ARCHITECTURE: Veneto is an impressive architectural ensemble. The entrance is towered over a mosaic arch of the 1st Venetian Era, a witness of the age of the building. Right beside it, the imposing stone staircase that leads to the upper floors emerges from a unique pebble floor with elaborate patterns. Party walls 50-120 cm wide assembled with plaster from Santorini, three stone wells, two fountains, a sublime yard, and many particular corners make up a unique architectural puzzle. Elements of Venetian, Turkish and Greek architecture bound together through the centuries within a single building.<
