Location

Just up the winding path from the village square in Megalochori lies a small complex of traditional Santorinian houses. We called it Casa Grande after its' namesake, the largest of the five. Restored to their former glory, the homes offer an exciting alternative to conventional holiday accommodation, and the chance to experience island life in one of Santorini's prettier lesser-known villages.

Each house is autonomous but the close proximity lends itself to both individual and group bookings.

Accommodation facilities

Casa Grande is two minutes' walk from the village square and a selection of taverns and coffee places. There is a Wine Bar & Restaurant with an Art Gallery that has live Greek music of an evening. One can also find small shops and a mini market. Nearby, Gavalas Winery offers tours and wine tasting.

We will meet and greet you, then take you to your reserved home. If you prefer, a breakfast selection is available at our nearby sister hotel Grand View, also in Megalochori. From there, you can enjoy views of the Volcano and Caldera, Santorini's sunset and cocktails from the pool bar. The houses are visited daily for maid service. If there is an emergency, we are always on hand and provide a contact number.

We can arrange for a car or bike rental to explore the island and can book it before your arrival or when we meet. The nearest bus stop is on the main road, about seven minutes from the houses on foot.

As Santorini locals in the hospitality business for more than twenty years, Casa Grande is our most recent venture. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did creating it.

Casa Alta Rooftop Cottage with Jacuzzi: Perched on a rooftop in the heart of Megalochori, sits Casa Alta. A traditional house restored and decorated in harmonious hues of earth and green, with wooden doors and finishings, Alta is delightful. Outside on the terrace, a pergola-covered Jacuzzi beckons invitingly. Relaxing in the hot tub is the perfect way to while away a summer's afternoon in beautiful Santorini. Alta's living room centrepiece is a magnificent smooth-sided stone fireplace, preserved in its' original structural form. The space includes comfortable built-in sofas with cushions, air conditioning and satellite TV. A small kitchenette offers appliances and kitchenware to make tea or coffee and a snack. WiFi access is available throughout. The cosy bedroom through an arched doorway boasts eco friendly Coco-Mat furnishings. Perhaps the most unusual feature of the house is the stone-flagged bathroom, in particular the washbasin area, reminiscent of a doll's house, or the stage of a puppet theatre.

Casa Camera: Little Casa Camera is a lovely hideaway for two. Just outside in the courtyard, the garden table and chairs are a charming addition for afternoon coffee and drinks. Chic yet casual and decorated in relaxing tones of cream and beige, Camera has a double bed and bathroom with shower. The space is air-conditioned and has a satellite TV, perfect for a lazy siesta in bed. Casa Camera is ideal for couples planning to explore the island or those part of a larger group staying in our other houses. Free Wifi access is available.

Casa Grande House with Jacuzzi: Casa Grande is a happy place. A cheerful canary yellow greets you at the door, ushering you into a small furnished courtyard with a Jacuzzi tub. An authentic Santorinian cave house, Grande is the largest of our homes. Renovated and refurbished, it combines comfort and tradition with modern details. Large French doors connect the outer and inner areas. Curved ceilings and archways, characteristic of cave houses, blend with earth tones and shades of emerald green. The generous open plan living room with built-in sofas, and furnished with rugs, cushions and satellite TV, also contains a full kitchen outfitted with modern appliances. The house has an air conditioning and heating unit. WiFi access is available throughout. Casa Grande has four bedrooms, three of which have double beds. One has a separate entrance to the courtyard and another, with two single beds, is housed in a little cave space on a lower level. There are three bathrooms with built-in shower places; two are ensuite. *Cave houses are characterized by their ability to preserve a stable interior temperature throughout the year (bio-climatic).

Casa Tua: An open plan studio for two, Casa Tua is situated on the upper level of Casa Grande. Outside, the pergola-covered terrace is furnished with a wooden table and benches to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine. Tua's natural light and all in one comfort are enhanced by a black, white and grey colour scheme. There is a built-in double bed and satellite TV. A small kitchenette offers appliances and kitchenware to make tea or coffee and a snack. Casa Tua's bathroom is modern with a built-in shower place and attractive washbasin. The space is air-conditioned. WiFi access is available throughout

Casa Yemeli: Exploring Casa Yemeli and her cosy nooks is an experience. Exquisitely renovated whilst retaining the original structure, Yemeli's charming doll's house appearance will enchant. Soft hues of cream and pastel green interspersed with greys and light wood surfaces delight the eye. Smooth archways and curved passages connect one space to another. Outside the front door, the covered alfresco dining area, furnished with a wooden table and cushion-covered benches, appears as an open invitation for the most enjoyable of meals. Yemeli has three bedrooms with double beds, and two bathrooms with built-in shower places. One bed is accessible by a small ladder. There is a comfortable living room, complete with satellite TV, built-in sofas and cushions for good measure. WiFi access is available throughout. The kitchen, equipped with modern appliances, is spread over two spaces as it was in the old days: one with the sink and the other with an electric oven. *Cave houses are characterized by their ability to preserve a stable interior temperature throughout the year (bio-climatic).
