How to get to Aera Milos

Aera Milos, only 3 km from Adamantas port, is located in the village of Tripiti (meaning ‘dents’ or ‘pits’ in Greek) and the next main stopping point on the island after Plaka to the south. Taking its name from the many pits or dents which have been formed or carved into the soft volcanic rocks around about, it is a picturesque seaside village with a fabulous views across the bay of Milos. This is certainly a place to stop, rest and soak up the atmosphere with a drink – breathing in the island’s beauty, position and ambience.

Near Tripiti are the ancient catacombs and Classical Theatre of Milos, both extremely fine and well-reserved examples of their form. (Checking beforehand is advised as the catacombs are not always open.)

How to get to Milos

By Boat

Milos is served by a daily ferry from Piraeus on the mainland. The journey time depends on the number stops but is usually between 5 and 7 hours.

Lane sea lines, Ventouris Sea Lines and GA Ferries all call at the island daily, docking at the port of Adamadas. Mainly in summertime there are frequent connections to the Cycladic islands, such as Syros, Paros, Naxos, Tinos, Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros and Santorini and Kimolos. Kimolos in particular is easily reached via local ferry from Pollonia, the secondary port of Milos.

By Speed Boat

The voyage by speed boat is the fastest way to get to Milos, taking between 2.5 (Super Jet) and 4.5 (Speedrunner) depending on route, stops and if any change is required. Both Sea Jet Company and Hellenic Sea Ways offer this service, although it is not the budget option.

By Plane

There are two to three direct flights daily from Athens International airport to Milos airport with Aegean airlines.

The flight lasts 30 minutes and lands at Milos airport which is approximately 4km away from Adamantas port (short drive).
