For getting to Monemvasia, you are best off hiring a car from your arrival airport.
The city of Monemvasia is located on the southeastern tip of the Peloponnese, some eighty km south of the historic city of Sparta. The drive from Athens lasts between 3,5 to 4 hours and is mostly along interstate highways.
For those who want to drive to Monemvasia from Athens, the route is quite simple.
From Athens, one follows the national highways to Corinth, then Tripoli and on to Sparta. From Sparta there are clear signs for Monemvasia.
